Farmland Birds

Many of the birds found on farmland have been declining over the last twenty years and some have been identified as BAP species – Biodiversity Action Plan. There are now opportunities to help their recovery through agri-environment schemes, feeding programs and nestbox schemes.

The BAP farmland birds include: Tree Sparrow, Grey Partridge, Corn Bunting, Lapwing, Cuckoo, Turtle Dove, Yellow Wagtail, Skylark, Linnet, Reed Bunting and Yellowhammer.

To monitor these species in the RX area we need your help and would be interested in any breeding season records of all of these and any sightings of those in bold. Please send the number and species of bird, together with location, date and your details clicking here or e-mailing to yates@clara.net

In additon, if you live in the RX area and feed the birds in your garden with seed and have any of the species above we ask that you feed all year round and let us know.
