Sea Defences

The RX area is generally low lying and vulnerable to flooding from the sea. The area has a long history of changing coastlines and man has, for many centuries, tried to claim land from the sea, then keep it out.

The Environment Agency is continually managing the sea defences from Cliff End to Hythe, building wooden groynes, moving shingle in lorries and building up sea walls. The public consultation process on the latest plans has now finished.
